DofE 2014

Hello,

Last weekend I went on my Duke of Edinburgh Bronze expedition. For those who have done DofE before you will know that you have to have an aim for the expedition; so this is where this blog post comes in. My friends and I choose to blog and vlog the experience, so last weekend I took some photos of the expedition to share with you. For our DofE expedition we had to walk 15km a day, for two days, carrying everything we needed on our packs - honestly it felt like I was floating when I took that bag off!!

I'm going to apologise now for the quality of these images, my camera is so old now and never really wants to take a decent picture... and these aren't the worst photos! We set off on day 1 at about 9.00, I still can't believe I was even able to get up early enough to get there on time on a weekend but somehow I did. We didn't get too lost.. and only ended up going in a loop and ending up in the same place about 2 hours later (It was not funny at the time!). We travelled through woods, fields and up hills all day and arrived at camp at about 5? - to be honest I was too excited to be at the campsite and get my bag off to remember the time. At camp we put up our tents, cooked and ate our dinner, then drank hot chocolate as the sun went down. It was a lovely evening.

Day two arrived and we set off at ridiculous o'clock in the morning to try and avoid the heat. Our first challenge was one of the biggest hills in Oxfordshire - and I can reassure you it was pretty steep. The rest of the day was filled with more woods and more hills... we developed the technique of climbing these hills in the heat with large sticks to act like walking poles. By the end of the day our feet were killing and the sight of the final destination was a great feeling.

So, that was Duke of Edinburgh 2014. Wow another extremely long blog post (sorry) I hope you liked reading and do let me know about your DofE experiences. Before I go I have to show you this photo from our practise expedition; basically we found this metal gate and decided to take a group photo, we set up the camera on a timer onto of a pile of our rucksacks. I clicked to button and as the camera took the picture we watched as the bags collapsed producing the photo below... Goodbyee

Best Day of my Life ♡

Hello,

So, on the 8th June I was lucky enough to attend the One Direction Concert at Wembley Stadium. I am a huge Directioner. I literally couldn't contain the excitement the days leading up to last Sunday and I have not stop talking about it since (Apologies to my friends that had to put up with that!).

At the concert I purchased a Tour T-shirt for £25. I loosely tucked this into my jeans and folded the sleeves; the same way I would wear an over sized top. I changed into this before the concert started, which kind of means my outfit picking before hand was pointless.... oh well.

Eye Make-Up

As you can hopefully see in the image, Maybelline must be my favourite make up brand... I wanted to keep my make up quite simple for the concert so I applied the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in 'Pink Gold' all over my eye lid and slightly above my eye lid crease; I have been loving this colour this Spring/ Summer it is such a pretty Spring shade. I then used the Maybelline (again..) Master Precise Liquid eyeliner to created a thin line, before applying the Maybelline The Colossal Volum'  Express mascara in Smokey eye. I think this gives you black long lashes. My favourite way to apply this mascara is to apply one coat on both my top and bottom lashes and when dry apply another coat to the top lashes. For my eyebrows I used the Maybelline Brow Drama in Dark Blond, I definitely recommend this product.

Arriving at Wembley

After arriving by train we looked around the London Shopping Outlet and Wembley's surroundings. I thought the flags that were strung between the shopping looked particularly photo worthy. I purchased a Tour T-shirt, as mentioned earlier and a festival bracelet (£5). We then stopped off at Costa and I ordered my favourite, Sticky Toffee Creamy Cooler, I love these so much!

The Concert

The concert was amazing and the atmosphere grew as the night went on. It was lovely to see the waving torches and everyone singing along. I took lots of photos and videos (using up all the space on my phone and camera :D ) but obviously I can't show you them all or this post would be even longer than it already is... However I have picked out a few favourite photos and videos that I will share with you below. My camera and phone don't have the best zoom so I apologise for the bad quality images. (I also apologise for me and my sisters awful singing/screaming!)

Give yourself a round of applause if you got to the end of this blog post! I'm sorry if it was too long, but I had an amazing time. I hope you enjoyed this style of post and if you did also attend the concert I hope you had an amazing time, like I did, and would love to hear about your One Direction Concert experiences. Thank you for reading; see you next time. Byee

Daisy Nails - Tutorial

Hello,

Today I am going to be sharing another nail art tutorial, as my last one seemed to be quite popular. This time I am going to be creating a daisy design - perfect for Spring and Summer.

Firstly you need to paint your nails in your chosen base colour. For this I have used 'Utopia' by Models Own. (I have a mini version) This is a grey/purple colour but any bright, nude or pastel colour would work well.

You now need to decide whether you want your daisy design on every nail or just the accent nail. For the purpose of this tutorial I have created the design on my accent nail.

After the base layer has dried, you will then need to create the white petals for the daisies. For this you will need to use a nail art pen or a white nail polish applied with a cocktail stick or a old hair grip. I have used a nail art pen from the Rio Professional Nail Art Kit (Basic Set). However if you want to buy individual nail art pens Superdrug have a good selection from different brands.

Apply five white dots/triangle shapes in a circle, leaving a gap in the centre of each circle of petals.(image below). You can create as many daisies as you want; but space them out. For this tutorial I have chosen to do three, but it depends on the size of the nail.

After dry, you need to add a yellow dot to the centre of each daisy - using again either a yellow nail art pen or yellow nail polish applied with a cocktail stick or old hair grip.

Your nails should then look a bit like this (images below). I would then apply a clear top coat, to keep the nail polish on for longer.

Garland | (New Look) £3.99

Necklace | (New Look) Not Available Online

I hope you find this tutorial useful. Use the hash tag #megansworldblog on Instagram if you do recreate this design (You can use this for feedback and requests whenever you want).

Let me know if you enjoy reading this type of blog post. Thank you for reading, see you next week :)

April / May Favourites

Hello June!

As the title suggests todays post will be my favourites from April and May. I have chosen to do a random favourites, and will be covering many different items I have been loving, not just fashion and beauty.

I have recently finished reading The Fault in our Stars; I loved it. I know I'm a bit late with this one but as the film trailer came out I wanted to read the book first - otherwise I knew I wouldn't read the book after watching it. I've never really been into reading sad books but the story line was great. I'm not going to say much about it as I don't want to spoil it if you haven't read it yet.

Although I hadn't read a book in a while, I found it hard to put this book down and I now intend to read some more of John Green's books. If you haven't read it I highly recommend you buy it now. Also check out the song by Ed Sheeran for the film, I loved it!

Amazon | £3.85

Again I'm a bit late with this as well. I recently watched Frozen. I had most of the songs stuck in my head even before I watched it and I still can't resit singing them around the house. (oh dear...) You're never too old for a bit of Disney!!!

It wasn't as good a some people made it out to be and I think I enjoyed the songs more if I'm perfectly honest. Nevertheless I did enjoy the film enough to put it in my favourites.

Amazon | £10.00

My next favourite is this MUA lipstick in 'Bare'. I picked this up as I wanted a lipstick that wasn't so bold and bright, and this is a perfect Spring nude/ pink. I didn't wear lipstick a lot before and didn't want to spend much, so I brought this for a £1. I wasn't expecting much but I have loved it.

Superdrug | £1

I have been loving this product by Treacle Moon. As suggested by the name it is in the scent Raspberry. The main reason this is appearing in my favourites is because I was unaware until I read the packaging it is not only a shower gel, but also a bubble bath - this amazed me for some reason. Because of this I find it super handy as you only have to use one product. As well as this it has a lovely scent and, unlike some products I have used before, the scent is still there when and after you use it.

Tesco | £2.99

Link it all Treacle Moon Products at Tesco Here.

There are two nail polishes that I have been loving recently. They are very different but equally great in my opinion. In April I enjoyed wearing 'Pistachio Ice Cream' by MUA (Right). This is a mint green very much like Essie's 'Mint Candy Apple'. I featured this is my Spring OOTD.

Superdrug | £1

My nail polish favourite of May was the Claire's 'So Couture' (Left). This is a pink/nude colour with a gold shimmer. I rediscovered this nail polish in May and I really loved it. It didn't chip and I only needed one coat.

Claire's | £1

This is a really strange favourite but I recently wanted Jelly Tots and hadn't seen them around for years. I don't really sure why I love them so much but they are a really cute size and remind me of when I was little. They are my favourite sweets at the moment. Yes, I know you probably think I'm really weird now...

This is another strange favourite. I recently discovered the McVitie's Gold Bar, and I love it. It is a biscuit bar covered with a what I believe to be Honeycomb or Caramel flavoured chocolate; that it describes as a 'unique gold coating'. I'm really not sure if this is something that everyone has had in the past but I have only tried this in the last week of May. This, like the Jelly Tots, is not the healthiest of food (Oops..?!) but honestly I have loved them.

Being a huge One Direction fan I brought 'Our Moment' back when it was first brought out. But recently I have found myself wearing it more than I did before. I love the scent this has and the cute packaging. I really would like to buy 'That Moment' as well now. I am also looking forward to going to the Where We Are Tour next Sunday, SO EXCITED!!

Superdrug | £15 - £38

Boots | £19.99 - £38.50

My last favourite is New Look. This is probably where I buy most of my clothes at the moment. Its really affordable and great quality. With it being really local for me, its always the first shop I go to.

Thanks for reading. I will try an do regular favourites posts but only when there is a significant amount of items I have been loving. If you have any suggestions of products/ things you think I would enjoy comment below. I would also love to know your opinions on the things I've mentioned in todays post. See you all next week, Goodbyeee :)
